Tennessee's Leading Virtual Outpatient Program

At Connections of Tennessee, we provide virtual intensive outpatient programming (IOP) for adults age 18 and older who are struggling with mental health disorders and co-occurring substance use disorders. All patients in our virtual IOP must reside in the state of Tennessee.

About the Connections of Tennessee Virtual IOP

The Connections of Tennessee virtual IOP is an all-inclusive, research-backed program that is designed to provide support for adults who have mental health concerns and co-occurring addictions. The program is only available for residents of Tennessee, and patients must be physically located in the state of Tennessee when participating in sessions. Programming is entirely virtual and takes place via a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform.

Our virtual IOP is a stand-alone program, meaning that patients do not need to have completed another level of care prior to joining. Patients can, however, step down from an acute or residential program, or they can self-refer to the virtual IOP without any other treatment experience.

The Connections of Tennessee virtual IOP follows a six-week curriculum that is built on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills. While the program is structured to last six weeks, each person receives an individualized plan of care, which may include a recommendation that a patient stay in the program for longer than six weeks. When this is the case, it is appropriate for the person to repeat the same six-week curriculum.

What To Expect at Connections of Tennessee

At Connections of Tennessee, our virtual IOP is built around a consistent, predictable structure that takes the guesswork out of treatment. Patients always know what to expect when they log on each day, providing a sense of comfort and stability throughout their therapeutic process. A thorough overview of the program's format and expectations is provided to every patient during the admissions process.

Prior to admission, patients complete a level of care assessment to determine if they meet criteria for a virtual program. If they would be better served in an in-person program, or if they prefer to participate in sessions in person, our team will provide a referral to a program that will best meet their needs.

An admissions intake session takes place one hour before a person begins their first group session. We also offer virtual psychiatric evaluations, which are completed within two days of admission. Please note that these evaluations take place outside of programming hours. Patients then have a follow-up appointment two weeks later, and additional sessions take place on a monthly basis after that.

The Connections of Tennessee virtual IOP takes place Monday-Thursday from 5:30-8:30 p.m. and includes three one-hour group sessions per day. While there are no set individual therapy sessions, we do offer one-on-one meetings with a therapist to update treatment plans every other week. One-on-one check-ins are also conducted for patients who require them based on their personal circumstances and the progress they are making in our care.
